Cannabis Compliance Testing Process and Checklist
Step 1: Have the following information ready, we will need this for your appointment:
- License number
- Business name
- Business address
- Business phone number
- Type of cannabis item (flower, extract/concentrate, product)
- Harvest lot number, if applicable
- Process lot number, if applicable
- Batch identification
- Batch size
- Units of sale, if applicable
- Desired testing
- Is the requested testing for compliance or research and development (R&D)?
- Is this a retest?
- If yes, date of failed test
- Is there a control study in place for the product to be tested?
Step 2: Schedule sampling appointment
Submit a Request For Analysis or contact your account manager directly.
Step 3: During appointment
During your appointment your account manager will perform representative, random sampling in a manner compliant with state requirements.
Step 4: Report results are emailed
Results are emailed to recipients specified on Client Information Form and published on client account portal.

Failed Testing, Remediation, and Retesting Guidance (Oregon)
Licensees have the option of remediating and retesting failed product batches.If a retest for pesticides, solvents, or microbiological contaminants fails, the product batch is not eligible for additional retesting and must be destroyed.

R&D Facts
Research and Development (R&D) or Quality Control testing can be used to assist with product development or to gather information regarding your production or processing procedures.
R&D test results are not reported to state regulators, unless testing pesticides, in which the state requires submission of test results.

Have the following information ready, we’ll need this for your appointment:

Step 2: Schedule sampling appointment
- Submit a Request For Analysis or contact your account manager directly.
- R&D samples can be brought directly to the lab by appointment or your account manager can collect it from your facility.
Step 3: Pull desired sample, if R&D is under a license create METRC manifest for transfer.
Step 4: Depending on where appointment is scheduled, bring sample to lab or your account manager.
Step 5: Report results are emailed and published on client account portal.

Oregon Hemp Testing
Hemp Facts
- For state pre-harvest field compliance, potency must be under 0.35% Total THC.
- Samples for pre-harvest field compliance are approximately 8 inches in length and taken from the tops of flowering plants.
- Fields must be flowering during the time of sampling for pre-harvest field compliance.
- Hemp and hemp products are required to have full compliance testing in order to be sale-ready in the state of Oregon.
Hemp Test Process and Checklist
Pre-Harvest Field Compliance Test Process
Step 1. Determine harvest date (sampling appointment must occur within 28 days of declared harvest date).
Step 2. Complete ODA Pre-Harvest Hemp Field Compliance Sampling Request Form.
Step 3. Submit completed Sampling Request Form to services.or@greenleaflabs.com.
Step 4. An account manager will reach out to schedule sampling appointment.
Step 5. During appointment account manager will perform representative, random sampling in a manner compliant with state requirements.
Step 6. Laboratory analyzes sample for potency and moisture content (to meet compliance samples must be below 0.35% Total THC).
Step 7. Laboratory emails Certificate Of Analysis to client email listed on the ODA Sampling Request Form. Laboratory emails ODA Pre-Harvest report to client and the ODA.
Post-Harvest Compliance Test Process
Once harvested, testing requirements for hemp and hemp products fall under the same regulations as cannabis. For more information please see Compliance Testing.
Hemp Test Sample Size
Pre-Harvest Field Compliance
- Total sample weight must be no less than 4 ounces, not to exceed 30 plant heads.
- Sample increments consist of the top 8 inches from flowering plants.
- Minimum number of individual plant samples required is outlined in ODA Exhibit A.
