We test cannabis and hemp for heavy metals
Heavy metals are contaminants that originate from both the manufacturing process and soil contamination in agricultural production. Most consumer products intended for human use, and sold in regulated markets, are required to undergo heavy metals analysis. This assists in protecting consumer safety.
Cannabis plants, especially hemp, are particularly adept at removing heavy metals from the soil and storing them in the flowering portion of the plant. These heavy metals can easily be transferred to the consumer during inhalation or ingestion. Additionally, machinery can contaminate finished goods during the production process. In the case of cannabis oil, contamination can result in the concentration of heavy metals during the cannabinoid extraction process.
California requires all cannabis products undergo testing for Cadmium, Lead, Arsenic, and Mercury.
